Women's World Day of Prayer

Another "last time in the UK" event. The Women's World Day of Prayer service was held at the Anglican Church in Denver this year.

Like in SA these annual services move around and are held in the different churches in the area. Since we have been here I have attended them at the Downham Methodist Church, the Anglican Church in Downham and also the Salvation Army only missing one because I was in USA visiting my sister that year.

Every year these services are planned by different countries and this year it was France's turn. The church was decorated with French flags and pictures and so we had a definite French feel as we attended the service. The young lady who gave the message was French and she has now settled in the UK as she has married and Englishman. She used the story of Ruth and Naomi to illustrate the message so sticking to the theme of the service.
During the last Hymn we all tied the ribbons we had been given at the start of the service so we could all be joined together by these ribbon links.

After the service, that was well attended, we enjoyed refreshments and once again the French theme filtered through as we enjoyed the delicious French eats while having our tea and coffee. There was even some French wine which could be served in the church because it was not a Methodist church.
