Jeanette's visit

I am so blessed.
Jeanette had planned to visit us this week and when Douglas died and she would not be able to visit him, she decided that she would still do the trip and visit me.
We have been visiting all the places and people that Douglas loved. Unfortunately her first day here was rather cold and wet but yesterday was a lovely day so we were able to go to Ely.

There is always something new to see so even though I had been there many times before, I was able to see things through her eyes and as an added bonus I even braved the ascent to the top of the West Tower. Douglas had been there on his own because I don't do heights but this was a special trip down memory lane and so I ventured up.
At the top we had a fantastic view of the area around the cathedral and even though there was a slight breeze, we were so hot form all the climbing that we appreciated the cool air.

On our way down we passed the Verger who was on his way up to put up the St Georges' Cross flag because it is Trinity Sunday today and they always fly that flag for special services.

Once back on ground level we saw one of the Downham Market members who volunteers as a guide and also saw a display that had never been there before.

We had a good time looking at all there was to see and I missed Douglas so much because he would have been able to have given her a running commentary as we went around. I tried my best but my memory is not 100% at the moment.
