We used different modes of transport during the day and of course memories of Douglas came flooding back. He loved the trains and had a fantastic knowledge of routes to travel. He had trained me well and so together with Wendy's research online we did manage to reach London and eventually our hotel where we were to meet up with Brendon.
The first leg of the journey was by taxi to Downham station.
We then took a train to London Kings Cross.
Owen was a little wary of the many tunnels but was distracted by counting how many there were.
While I went to add money to my Oyster cards the children enjoyed the underground signs.
Owen did not like the lifts and found the underground scary but was brave and managed without any wobblies.
In London we were overwhelmed by the people and the traffic.
We did manage to find our way to London Bridge after we had enjoyed some snacks as we were rather hungry.
From there we had a lovely view of Tower Bridge.
We had thought of seeing Big Ben but decided rather to head off to the hotel as the cherubs were wanting to see their Daddy. It was back to the undergrounds for a ride to Paddington station.
On the underground we distracted owen by doing a photo shoot.
At Paddington we had to run to catch our train to Slough where we were to meet Brendon and spend two nights. We had two inter-leading rooms and had a picnic supper before falling into our beds exhausted after all our adventures that day.
